Hi, I’m JJ Barnett, an FAA-certified drone pilot and aerial photographer based in Olathe, Kansas. Through Reel Drone Rangers, I capture stunning photos and cinematic videos that showcase the beauty, energy, and stories of the Greater Kansas City area—from Overland Park to Liberty and everywhere in between.
I fly both the DJI Neo and DJI Avata 2, giving me the flexibility to adapt to each project’s unique needs and local aviation requirements. Whether I’m filming real estate marketing footage, creating branding visuals for small businesses, or capturing community events, I tailor every flight to deliver creative, high-quality aerial perspectives.
There’s something truly mesmerizing about seeing the world from above. I love transforming that elevated view into imagery that helps my clients tell their stories and stand out—whether it’s showcasing a property, elevating a brand, or sharing the heart of a local business.
Before launching Reel Drone Rangers, I spent several years in the furniture industry, where I developed a strong sense of visual design and learned how to collaborate closely with clients to bring their visions to life. Today, I’ve taken that same artistic eye to new cinematic heights through drone videography and photography.
When I’m not flying drones or editing footage, I enjoy spending time with my wife, three kids, and two grandchildren, and—when it’s football season—cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs.
